The social economy is made up of a variety of companies and initiatives whose goals prioritise the creation of certain forms of added value in society.
There are 67 social enterprises for customised work active in Flanders. At present, they employ around 20,000 people, most of whom are people who have difficulty accessing the labour market (approx. 16,500).
